Back in 1955, when gas was just 29 cents a gallon and Elvis Presley’s voice was starting to shape a generation, The Ohio Moulding Company opened its doors. It was a time when the strength of American manufacturing powered across the nation, and OMCO was proudly laying the foundation for delivering strength and reliability.
During the 1960s and 70s and the Civil Rights era, OMCO grew its manufacturing expertise. Even during uncertain times, OMCO delivered high-quality roll formed and molded steel solutions that supported diverse industries ranging from truck & trailer body, automation & material handling, and industrial applications.
By the 1980s and 1990s, automation was transforming factories across the country, and OMCO invested in a way that positioned them as a true market leader.
Fast forward to the 2000’s, OMCO expanded its legacy of steel into solar with the launch of OMCO Solar in 2007. Just two years later as renewable energy continued to grow, our Phoenix, Arizona facility opened, dedicated to solar manufacturing. Following the opening of the Phoenix facility OMCO acquired Weaver & Sons in Talladega, Alabama in 2014. Originally founded in 1945 by a World War II veteran, this facility was given new life as OMCO Fabrication.
In 2017, the same year Star Wars: The Last Jedi topped the U.S. box office, OMCO Solar had already delivered more than 8 GW of solar racking and tracking solutions. A couple years later, OMCO introduced the Origin® Factory-Direct Tracker line, strengthening our role as a U.S. solar industry expert.
While Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour was breaking records in 2024, OMCO was busy expanding its nationwide footprint by opening its fifth U.S. facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Present day 2025, OMCO successfully launched the OMCO Star™ Tracker Control System, elevating OMCO Solar from a premier racking and tracker provider to a solar technology leader built from years of industry expertise and knowledge as well.
Known as the largest custom roll former in the U.S, a top-tier custom fabrication provider, and America’s premier factory-direct manufacturer of fixed tilt and tracker solutions, OMCO continues to deliver with the same focus on quality and performance that’s defined the organization for generations. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re not just looking back, we’re focusing on the future, and our promise remains the same: we deliver direct supply, support, and solutions on time, with steel certainty and confidence during uncertain times.
70 years strong and we’re just getting started.
70 Years Strong – Roll Form as a Market Leader
Back in 1955, The Ohio Moulding Company opened its doors as a single-bay building in Wickliffe, Ohio with a big vision: to deliver reliable, American-made steel products.
As the years went on, that one bay building grew into five manufacturing facilities nationwide. Powered today by 50 roll forming lines and robotics and over 700,000 square feet of manufacturing space within our Wickliffe, Ohio, Pierceton, Indiana, Talladega, Alabama, Phoenix, Arizona and Huntsville, Alabama facilities. Alongside our growth, our employees have built lasting careers, with seven employees that have been here over 30 years each.
Through the decades, we expanded into diverse markets such as truck & trailer body, automation & material handling, industrial applications and more. This diversity made us stronger and kept us at the forefront of American manufacturing.
Throughout this immense growth, we never lost sight of community. Company picnics, employee/family cookouts, and holiday meals became traditions, while programs like Adopt-a-Family, Trunk or Treat, and school donations allowed us to give back. Today, our solar field powers the Pierceton, Indiana plant, another symbol of our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future.
Now, in 2025, OMCO Roll Forming Plus stands strong as the nation’s largest custom roll former. With our 70 years of experience, scale, and people at the core, we’re proud to deliver complex, high-quality, and cost-effective solutions to customers across the country, and we look forward to building on this legacy for decades to come.
70 Years Strong – Honoring Our History
As we celebrate OMCO’s 70th anniversary, we’re proud to honor not just our own history, but the legacy of the businesses that have become part of the OMCO family in Talladega, AL.
Weaver & Sons was founded in 1945 by members of the Weaver family, shortly after one of the sons returned home from World War II. Having endured time as a prisoner of war, he came back determined and ready to build something meaningful and lasting in the community.
The Talladega facility itself is nestled in what was once a World War II–era industrial park, and our two smaller buildings still reflect the architecture of the 1940’s.
Fast forward to 1999, the building underwent significant renovations from a location to support the war efforts, to housing a textile company and then finally found new life as a fabrication shop.
Moving through the years to 2014, when OMCO acquired Weaver & Sons, the building again went through updates and improvements to meet the demands of modern manufacturing. Today, the facility represents both a link to America’s industrial past as well as a vital part of OMCO’s future—where skilled craftsmanship and state-of-the-art innovation come together.
70 Years Strong — Built on Steel, Focused on Solar
In 1955, when The Ohio Moulding Company opened its doors to deliver reliable American-made steel products, the solar industry was still in its infancy. Fast-forward five decades, OMCO expanded that legacy with the launch of OMCO Solar in 2007, a division that started as a solar contract manufacturer. Then in 2009, the Phoenix, AZ location opened, which now stands as the home of the Solar division.
Moving ahead to 2017, the company shifted to launch its own brand of fixed tilt products, that later became known as OMCO Choice®. Just a short 2 years later, the OMCO Origin® Trackers were introduced to the market.
Eight months prior to officially opening our Huntsville, AL facility in 2024, our dedicated team worked side-by-side in hard hats and hi-visibility vests while they finished the building to continue to hit all client deadlines. This location completes the Alabama manufacturing triangle with some of our industry partners, Nucor and First Solar being just a few miles away.
Now at present day, the launch of the OMCO Star™ Tracker Control System positions OMCO Solar as not only a solar tracker and racking manufacturing company, but also a solar technology company.
Through the years, OMCO Solar has forged strong industry partnerships from steel providers and modules makers to installers across various U.S. solar market segments. Some include Nucor, First Solar, Create Energy, Heliene, Sunstall, Pine Energy, and many more. These partnerships are a great example of US domestic manufacturing and supply chain optimization that bring value to our solar customers and projects nationwide for decades to come.
